Here's the key to map.
	States where Bill Clinton won 55% or more of the vote. Four states plus DC
	States where Bill Clinton won a majority (50% or more). Sixteen states
	States where Bill Clinton won a plurality of the vote. Eleven states
	States where Bob Dole won 55% or more of the vote. None. The closest he came was in Kansas, 54%.
	States where Bob Dole won a majority of the vote. Seven states
	States where Bob Dole won a plurality of the vote. Twelve states
	States where Ross Perot got more than 12% of the vote. Seven states
	States where Ross Perot got 10-12% of the vote. Sixteen states

Some other tidbits:

• Both Massachusetts and Rhode Island gave Bill Clinton over 60% of their votes. Rhode Island also gave a large share to Ross Perot, leaving Bob Dole with a mere 27%.
• Bill Clinton's worst showings were in Alaska, Nebraska and Idaho, each with only 34%.
• Bill Clinton won Nevada with only 44% of the vote. (He lost 7 states where he received 44% or more of the vote.)
• Bill Clinton barely missed receiving a majority of the popular vote. Add together the electoral votes of all the states where he won a majority, and it falls just short of an electoral college majority.
• Of the 10 top states (in electoral votes), Bill Clinton carried 5 with a majority (one with over 55%), 3 with a plurality and lost 2.
• There were only a few close races (2% difference or less): Arizona, Georgia, Kentucky, Nevada, Tennessee and Virginia. Note that 4 close races were in the south (if you include border state Kentucky in the south).
• All of the far western states gave at least 4% of the vote to "other" candidates (not Clinton, Dole or Perot). The "other" vote may have made the difference in putting Nevada in the Clinton column.
• Ross Perot did not get more than 8% of the vote in any southern state, except Florida, and only Arkansas gave Perot 8%. But Perot's lowest draw was in the District of Columbia, where he impressed only 2% of the beltway insiders.
• Was Perot's poor showing in the south due to a lack of Perot support by black voters? Or was it because the Clinton-Dole race was close in these states and voters chose not to "waste" a vote on a candidate that clearly couldn't win?
• Maine gave 17% of its vote to Perot and "other" candidates, the highest in the nation. Runners up are Alaska, Montana and Oregon, each with 15%.
